At Out Of The Ashes, we see people from all walks of life. Not everyone who comes to us is struggling with alcohol or drugs. Many face battles that can’t always be seen. Some of the homeless population are our very own veterans, men and women who gave so much for our freedom, now walking through challenges with health, mental health, and the weight of life itself.
Today, we want to give a special shoutout to Mark, who bravely served our country on two tours in Vietnam. Mark’s journey has not been easy, he is in his mid 70s and he came to us after riding a Greyhound bus as far as he could from the Florida Keys, arriving in our small town with nowhere to go. He slept out in the woods in the rain before finding his way to our local VA, who then reached out to Out Of The Ashes.
Now, Mark is grateful for the opportunity to rebuild his life, and he has boldly shared his testimony to encourage other veterans who may be struggling. ![]()
We want to thank every supporter, donor, and prayer warrior who helps us help others. We couldn’t do what we do without you. And most of all, we give all the honor and glory to the Lord, who makes everything possible. ![]()
Let this promise from the Lord be an encouragement to every veteran:
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
We thank God for our veterans. We thank God for Mark. And we thank God for YOU. ![]()
